Your Home Is Heavily Cluttered – Here’s How You Can Organize It

Has your house been swamped by the clutter that you’ve been planning to get rid of for a while? Well, I get it, honestly. I have been in the same position for quite some time.

However, in the end, I decided to plan accordingly and took care of the “dirt” quickly and efficiently. But, how did I do it? What are the things I tried to focus on over the others?

Let me tell you all about it.

1: Planning Out Everything Properly

When it comes to tackling the clutter, you should always move as strategically as you can. So, in a way, it will be important for you to create a plan.

Here’s what it should include according to Reliable Cleaning Services.

  • Don’t try to do everything all at once. Instead, focus on a single room and make sure you are cleaning it by the book. Take the entire day for cleaning, if needed. But be patient and methodical with your approach.
  • If you’re setting up a new room, try to divide all of your belongings into two sections – must-have and trash – this way, you can get rid of the clutter even before taking another step.

Note: Remember, the more careful you are in your approach, the less overwhelmed you will feel while cleaning. So, it’s important to ensure that you have everything in place before you get to work.

2: Be Ruthless in Your Approach

Most of us, when taking out something that we used to have a connection with, tend to feel a little emotional. This, in turn, makes us keep the product instead of throwing it away. And, needless to say, while it may soothe our soul for a week or so, it will inevitably make our cleaning journey much more difficult.

So, before you start cleaning, always ask yourself, “Do I need this?” As a rule of thumb, if an item hasn’t seen the light of day in a year or so, you can certainly live without it. Also, as you know, less stuff means less clutter. So, what’s the point of keeping them? If you ever need it, just save some money and buy it again.

3: Sort and Categorize Everything

After you have cut down the excessive amount of stuff, you should start categorizing whatever is left. For example, you need to keep the books with the other paper-related stuff you have. Clothing, on the other hand, must be kept in an almirah. This way, it will be easier for you to find anything you are looking for in an instant.

And, you will also be able to find out the duplicates and get rid of them before they end up creating another clutter. I think it might also help you get more organized and efficient.

4: Opt for Smart Storages

When it comes to organizing your stuff, you should always opt for smart storage rather than the traditional ones. I would highly suggest you go for something like a drawer divider, a basket, or a shelf instead of an almirah.

Also, when you are storing your stuff, make sure to categorize them there as well. For example, if you are keeping a book in something, try not to put your clothes in the same. This will ruin the purpose of decluttering.

5: Put a Label on Everything

If you want to make your storage job even easier, I would also ask you to put a small label on everything. Here, all you need to do is write down the name of the stuff you’ve kept in a box and stamp the same on it.

If you want to get a little savvier, you can also buy some stylish-looking labels from Walmart and use them. Most of these usually come with a waterproof coating as well, so they have a chance of lasting longer than usual.

6: One In, One Out Rule

No matter how hard you try, if you don’t manage what you purchase properly, it will be impossible for you to keep your house decluttered. And that’s why I follow this rule when planning to buy something.

I always try to finish up the product I’m using before buying it again. Sometimes, I do miss out on using it for a day or two. But, it doesn’t matter as long as I can keep my house clean.
